Hello Everyone! What is the definition of Liberty Style? Could you please post online examples of Liberty Style if you've seen any? I'm searching all over the net and don't think I've really seen a good definition/example.

Thanks for your help.

Have a great weekend, everybody :)

RE: What is Liberty Style?

Try 'Art Nouveau'on the net or in books. 'Liberty Style' is what the Italians call it, after Liberty's shop in London which sold textiles, furniture, jewellery etc in art nouveau designs.
Rennie Macintosh furniture, Tiffany lamps, Lalique glass, William Morris wallpaper are examples of the style. It was popular in the late nineteenth/early twentieth century. Very decorative - lovely sinuous lines often with intertwined leaves and flowers and figures with flowing hair. very attractive.
Hope this is helpful.

Liberty (the Liberty shop) is still there at the bottom of Carnaby St in London and making the most of its design history, have a look at www.liberty.co.uk
