| I'm trying to identify a picture that used to hang on my parents' bedroom wall - any help given will be greatly appreciated.
The picture was quite large (maybe 2 &a 1/2 to 3 feet high) and depicted a night-time scene. It was predominantly deep purple in colour with some red here and there. On one side (the left I think) was a large building which got smaller with the perspective of the picture and below it (again, I think) were lots of small people in a street. The building looked like it was made from glass/ steel and had a big arch shape at the front (I remember it looked like part of a giant wheel). (Think along the lines of the Great Exhibition Centre in Crystal Palace or a part of Les Halles in Paris.) My impression is that the scene looked European, possibly French and somewhere in the region of 100 years old. I'd say the picture on the whole was quite atmospheric, powerful and solemn, although obviously that's just how I saw it. I last saw this picture when I was about 6 years old so it's very hard to remember clearly but I've done my best.
Many, many thanks in advance for any suggestions that can be made. Ant |
