erm...statues

| This probably sounds uncanny but I'd like to know how much it would cost to build a statue in London (assuming it has been authorized, funded, approved and all that). Also, would it be possible to build an Indian statue in London? As in, would it be allowed and all? How many years would it take to finally get installed?
The recently built Gandhi statue at Houston took a year or so, is what I gather.
Thanks in advance. |

| Gandhi in Trafalgar Square would be so neat. Kafka what other Indians do you have in mind? Maybe Judi Krishnamurti too? |

| Who is Judi Krishnamurti? Gandhi at Trafalgar Square would be rather absurd, and if it is carried out, terribly ironic, for the Trafalgar Square commemorates the British soldiers who brought down the Great Indian Mutiny, killing thousands of Indian soldiers. |

| OK, how about Gandhi on the steps of the National Gallery facing Trafalgar Square? In homespun, wire rims, and bare feet, representing those 'thousands of Indian soldiers'? This is what I like in London. All the statues to study. Good question concerning a statue of someone from one of the colonies. Why not? |

| Ah well, I like Trafalgar Square the way it is but it doesn't mean Gandhi needs to be bunged in there. Which goes to show you completely missed the point about my question. *HUG* |

| As a matter of fact I did go out on a tangent. Sorry. There must be a London foundation or city department with your answer. Maybe even a toll free number. "Trafalgar Square was built in honor of Admiral Nelson after his victory in 1805 at the Battle of Trafalgar, off the coast of Spain." Does this make sense? We must have gone to different schools together.:) Take care! |

| Trafalgar Sq was certainly named after Nelson's victory at Trafalgar, and though there are other statues (in that area and off towards Horse Guards) of Generals who may have played some part in putting down the Indian Mutiny, that won't have been the main reason why they're there. |
