How to sell my artwork?

Posted by Shortchecker (My Page) on

Hi,
I am a new artist to the Phonix Arizona area and want to sell my pastel drawings, paintings, etc... My subjects are generally birds and nature. I have sold some of my work on-line. I am unsure as to how to approach selling my work to the general public. What are the best ways to sell fine art-not crafts stuff!!!!
Thanks in Advance
Ayn

Do you belong to any of the local art organizations in Phoenix? The members would probably offer support and knowledge in this area.

Are you interested in selling in galleries, or giftshops? You would need to explore the galleries for the types of art represented to see if yours fit in. Then call the owner or manager of the gallery for an appointment and take your porfolio. Giftshops should be approached similarly.

This might be a bit off subject, but how about painting scenes of Phoenix? Street scenes, famous buildings, famous golf course holes at the resort clubs, Indian tribe housing, etc. The sights that make Phoenix famous.

For instance. The golf angle - present your paintings to be shown in the club house. Street scenes might be sold through upscale restaurants. Does this make sense?

This would require prints to be made.

Just a thought from a non-artist that does think along the lines of sales.
