I was watching American Psycho yesterday which is apparently set in 1987.
On it features a Simply Red song(If you dont know me by now)which was realeased on their New Flame album released in 1989 and therefore shouldnt really feature in the film.
Does anybody know if the 1987 date is correct? |

| Clare, I dug out my copy of the book (I swore I would get rid of it but haven't yet). Yes, the year is 1987 -- at least through most of it. I don't recall if the story progressed to later years because I couldn't bear to read or skim without being reminded of how utterly revolting I found it. I have never wanted to see the film. Is it as disgusting as the book? |

It is gross but his character is quite comedic at times. It seems he is driven crazy by the incompetence and strive of social status of others which, in a strange way 'justifies' his actions. |
