Well, Pixar's and Disney's offerings are always a good bet. There's The Incredibles, Monsters Inc., Finding Nemo, Antz, A Bug's Life, etc., etc. Pirates of the Caribbean was nice and it was marketed as something of a family movie. (I think) Bedknobs and Broomsticks? I saw it again a few nights ago and it's still a comedy and it's DEFINITELY family fare.

If you have an older family how about "You Can't take it with you"? I have the b/w original and the Stage production starring Jason Robards Jr (which I like best)

IF you can find it, I love this one: The Lawrenceville Stories: The Return of Hickey I thought it was terribly funny I also love "Our Vines Have Tender Grapes" I liked most of the old Andy Hardy movies

Hi, I usually lurk, but these were a few of our favorites! Love the first Beethoven and the 2nd. It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World! Parenthood Princess Bride

Tia, do you have boys or girls or both and what ages? For preadolescent girls, any Hilary Duff movie is very popular. Also, Amanda Bynes ("What A Girl Wants" I think she did, with Colin Firth) and Lindsey Lohan ("Freaky Friday" is hilarious for her and me). Good movies for kids and parents: "Holes"** "Hidalgo"** "Secondhand Lions"** "Harry Potter" -- any of them "Haunted Mansion" ** means extra good, even Dad might like 'em. My kids liked all the animated features listed above, too. "Cheaper by the Dozen" was a girl's movie, btw. Rose

Two that have already been mentioned: Hidalgo The Princess Bride and a few more: Mio My Son Neverending Story Ella Enchanted Signs (It may seem strange to put Signs in as a family movie, but it's more than extra terrestrials, good family discussion can ensue regarding faith and circumstance)

...and just viewed A Midsummer Night's Dream, the old black and white version would be more appropriate for younger kids, it stars Olivia DeHavalind (sp?), James Cagney, and Mickey Rooney as a very mischievious Puck. For older kids and adults, I'd also recommend the newer version of this movie which stars: Kevin Kline, Calista Flockhart and Christian Bale. It's a good introduction to the light side of Shakespeare. Younger kids will love the part where the Queen of Fairies falls in love with an ass and older kids may find the mismatched love story amusing.

Most of "The Three Stooges" episodes are available, and some of those are outrageously funny (Mel Gibson is a major "Stooges" fan)

I can't help offering "Little Lord Fontleroy" though it is not a comedy. I love this movie as it is similar to the many Dickens adaptations. Your whole family will love it.

I think The Last StarFighter or any of the Star Wars movies are good clean family entertainment. And what was the name of that movie that Matthew Broderick made years ago, something like War Games? It was a computer game that took over and was about to launch missiles-anyone remember that one. Pat
RE: Need a good family comedy...

You said it, Pat, War Games.
