The Wings of the Dove-Spoiler, please!

This movie was on at 1:30 a.m. last night and I fell asleep before it ended...

Could someone tell me the ending?

I searched the Yahoo TV listings to see if it will be repeated anytime soon, but it looks like it will not!

Help!

RE: The Wings of the Dove-Spoiler, please!

Is this the movie with Helena Bonham Carter? If it is, then she never gets her guy, the wife dies of her long and gripping illness but only after realizing what's really going on, and the husband, overcome with grief and guilt, dumps his mistress even though he's now rich and free to re-marry. In an attempt to reclaim her lover, the nude scene with Carter's character is the most bizaare I've ever seen. It isn't sexual at all, it's just sad.

For more detail, perhaps someone else can fill in and you can also go to IMdB and search for comments on this film to include spoilers. It's been a while since I've seen it and as you can see, I've forgotten all of the character's names.

Here is a link that might be useful: comments at imdb

I didn't think that I could keep my eyes open long enough to finish the movie, but I did. It got over on the west coast at 10 though so it was just that I was extra sleepy.

I have a little bit different take on how the movie worked out. I am not at all sure that Merton and Millie ever married. Lord Mark travels to Venice to tell Millie that she is being deceived. Kate was his informant because even though the pseudo romance was her idea she became jealous of Millie. Merton goes to Millie, who is now quite ill, and cries and is forgiven. They enjoy a brief interlude before Millie dies. Merton returns to England. When Kate comes to his apartment he offers her the unopened letter from Millie's lawyers that probably is their ticket to wealth. Kate burns the letter, but it isn't enough. The two have sex, but don't "make love". Merton admits that he is in love with Millie's memory even though he didn't love her in life. He returns to Venice where he can mourn Millie.
