I like Devane too- and particularly enjoyed last season when he played such a prominent part-glad to see him back!
Pat

After last weeks surprising events I wonder what is in store for Jack this week. the Pres has made it a priority to "get him"

RE: '24' Day Five continues

Minnie I think it will be more likely that Jack 'gets' the President! Maybe not physically of course but gets the evidence to prove that he was behind all the terrible events. Looking forward to seeing/hearing how Logan defends himself when Devane's character confronts him.

I don't trust Wayne or Audrey's father

 o
RE: '24' Day Five continues

Well I was disappointed by Sec. Heller (Devane)although I understand what he was trying to do by saving the country from the truth about the President.

I have been wondering what happened to Aaron-and who is powerful enough to be behind his disappearance, I didn't get the feeling that Logan new about his meeting Martha - so there is someone else there that we don't yet know ...Mike or the VP with a different agenda....Since Aaron is the head of the Secret Service who among the people there would dare to take him out...no one we have seen yet?

As the clip for next week - Logan 'disposes' of Martha-I can't believe he would have her killed-maybe just shut away as in the beginning of this season?

That Chloe is a hero-she is really amazing!

RE: '24' Day Five continues

Did everyone else quit watching?

Last night's episode showed that Logan is being 'used' by another group - who are these people and what do they have on Logan to cause him to go along with this?...and what is behind it all...? Does knowing that there is another group behind all this pushing Logan change your opinion-I know some didn't feel it was credible that the Logan character -the wimp-could be behind the days events.

I caught that part about Walt Cummings and as I guessed he did not commit suicide....but where is AAron and are the men now around Logan 'real' Secret Service or people working with the Henderson faction?

Of course Jack got on that plane-now how did he know which of the people on board have the recording and how is he going to get it and get off that plane!

Pat

 o
RE: '24' Day Five continues

I don't think he knew when he got on the plane just who has the recording but Chloe is telling him where so-and-so is sitting in the next episode.. Maybe he will recognize someone once he gets out of the cargo area.
I didn't recognize any of the other new group either. but the mouthpiece seems to know how to push Logan's buttons. A strange remark was made about a strike or something they pulled 18 months ago. Do you think the Russians might be on that plane (the ones from the motorcade earlier)

Martha is going to wise up and get as much info as she can I think. Maybe Aaron is on the plane since it was stated he was being reassigned to Washington. Maybe he left his phone behind as a clue of some sort for Martha.Maybe he was really reassigned and not abducted.

Nice to see Curtis again. Sometimes we forget the time frame - that we are talking about hours and not days. Also Karen is waking up and now she will be a target also.

 o
RE: '24' Day Five continues

Minnie, you are right -- it is difficult to remember that everything is happening in one day.

I hope that Aaron is really being reassigned and not another in the growing list of victims. It is very suspicious that he would be reassigned while he is standing at the spot where he was to meet Martha.

There was an interview with the person who plays the president and he said he wished he wasn't playing someone who was so disliked. He and Dennis Haysbert are friends and he commented on the difference in reactions when fans of 24 meet them. I for one will never be able to see him in anything else without wanting to punch him in the nose, or worse! He must be a very good actor to play such an obnoxious weasel so well.

 o
RE: '24' Day Five continues

I saw the movie the Sentinel today. Keifer was in it and was good. However he wasn't the "Jack Bauer" we know and love. I was glad that he was able to play a part a little different from what we are accustomed to. But after "24" movies of this type seem to fall short!!

There are such good actors in this series that we have identified them with the characters they play so it will be difficult to see them as any other persona I'm afraid.

Someone said that there was a British flag on one of the cars pulling away from that airplane that Jack boarded.
Maybe Aaron will just happen to be on that plane. Next week should be exciting as usual. Only 5 more to go I think.

 o
RE: '24' Day Five continues

If Aaron is on the plane, I hope he isn't the one with the tape. (Just kidding; I don't think the timeline would allow for that.)

The Sentinel didn't get good reviews, which was disappointing because I was looking forward to seeing it. How did you like it, Minnie?

 o
RE: '24' Day Five continues

The movie was ok. I had to wear my ear plugs as usual.
It was very dark (lighting). It was Douglas' movie all the way. Would have been better if I hadn't seen so many 24's.

 o
RE: '24' Day Five continues

Oh it gets better and better every week!

I was pretty upset and surprised that the writers chose to kill off Bill Devane in the first 10 minutes.

I think it is interesting to now have Logan being forced by yet another group at the helm of the whole thing. I love seeing Romano from ER in that role, he plays the mean guy so well.

I noticed the French flag and British flag on the cars near the plane...and it looks as if someone French gets ambushed by Jack next week...clearly this is the work of foreign governments.

I heard the actor who plays Logan gets stopped on the street and people yell at him. It must be very difficult to handle playing someone so sleazy. He's such a good actor!

 o
RE: '24' Day Five continues

I wrote my response-and lost it-no idea why!...anyway...

I am hoping that Heller/Devane survived! I would like to think that he chose to drive off the cliff rather than be shot because maybe his chances of survival would be better. His character was quite resourceful last season, so I am hoping that he survived!

As for the plane that was a private diplomatic plane so it will be interesting to see which person & country has the tape and is involved.

As in previous seasons we think we know what is going on and who is behind everything-as the 'day' progresses we discover that our imaginations never stretched far enough!

Pat

 o
RE: '24' Day Five continues

I must be the only one left still watching...?

I was happy to see that Aaron was still alive in the clip for next week - and to hear that Heller/DeVane is still alive...as I had hoped -he chose to drive off that cliff and take his chances rather than be blown up by the crew in the 'copter.

I do have an issue with Chloe being left alone with that very important recording....would that really happen in real life...I don't think so!

If anyone is still watching what are your thoughts....how about that plane landing LOL!

Pat

 o
RE: '24' Day Five continues

Yep! Still watching. I missed the week when Devane drove off a cliff but am also glad he's still hanging in.

Sure wish the Pres.had managed to shoot himself before Miles called him. And I have to agree that leaving the tape with Chloe by herself was stupid...

 o
RE: '24' Day Five continues

I wouldn't miss this show for anything!

At this point I dislike Miles even more than I dislike the president. Even though I'm sure they will both get what they deserve before the end of the 24 hours, it is soooooooo painful to watch at times. The casting is really great, isn't it?

If Chloe was working on cleaning up the noise on the tape so the Attorney General could hear it (I think that is what I understood her to be doing) I would think she would have the recording transferred to her laptop, but the chain of custody of the evidence would be broken as there would be no proof that the recording actually came from the tape. The preview seemed to indicate that she didn't have the recording, however.

Do we know yet who the guys are who are telling the president what to do?

 o
RE: '24' Day Five continues

I can't figure out that group telling the president what to do either. I think the Pres is a little more savvy than we think and will "take care" of Miles if and when he delivers the goods. I too would have thought they'd have made a safe copy before trying to do anything with the tampe. Maybe they did.
It's been a long day and it is hard to remember the begining of the day.

 o
RE: '24' Day Five continues

I have been trying to figure out for a couple of weeks who that group could be-obviously some high-powered sort and I think they must have given Logan the idea...probably for some financial gain which we will discover by the final episode-I hope!
They have to very extremely powerful & connected because of what Henderson told Jack in the clip for next weeks show...about them getting Jack I guess we will have to see if Jack can get out of this season alive!

I have to believe that Chloe is smart enough to have made some sort of copy or back up!

And I am eager to hear what Aaron has to say....did members of his own Secret Service beat him up- or-is there someone in that compound pretending to be an agent-and is the one that murdered Cummings-the one that supposedly committed suicide.

Pat

RE: '24' Day Five continues

I just always figured this was the same group we saw behind the assassination attempt on Palmer at the end of season 2, or was it 3?

There has long been a theory held dear by the most paranoid that a group of 400 unknown individuals world-wide really run everything. I just figured this was one of those stories.

I'm as irritated by the fact that they haven't copied the tape as I was by Lynn not reporting his card stolen. The show may have jumped the shark for me.

 o
RE: '24' Day Five continues

We don't know if they have copied the tape or not. Maybe Chloe did a back up before she started "cleaning it up" Let's hope so.

 o
RE: '24' Day Five continues

Martha really came through, didn't she? Can't wait for the big two hour finale next week.

 o
RE: '24' Day Five continues

Don't forget that it is on one hour earlier than usual.

 o
RE: '24' Day Five continues

Henderson, was he really helping? Very glad to see Aaron, the Secret Service guy, made it. I'm speculating that the super-commitee really does have the VP in their pocket and already had plans to implicate Logan. Hope Miles dies a nasty death - or ends up in prison fighting off unwanted sexual advances.

 o
RE: '24' Day Five continues

LOL Chris! I am sure Miles will get his 'just rewards'
No-I don't believe Henderson had any intention of helping, I think he was hedging his bets not sure which side would win.

I was hoping for a small scene with Heller/Devane from his hospital bed maybe talking to Audrey...hopefully that will happen during the 2-hour finale next Monday.

I was so glad that Aaron survived - but what is it between Martha & Aaron-those long lingering looks...hmmmm!

I sure like the clip showing Jack getting into Logan's face...look forward to seeing the entire scene.

Chris it would be terrible if the VP was also on the wrong side of events...but with this show we have learned there are always surprises-and no one is completely innocent or seems to have an agenda!

BTW I saw a short interview yesterday with the actress that plays Chloe-she really must be a good actress because she was nothing like the goofy person she has been portrayed in the past-but then this season especially she has really gained lots of fans!

Pat

 o
RE: '24' Day Five continues

I've seen Mary Jane Rajskub (Chloe) on talk shows and she is simply delightful! She says she loves how grumpy yet very capable her character is.

 o
RE: '24' Day Five continues

I want more of Chloe's hot ex!

I found the ending oddly satisfying. I like that it was ultimately Martha who brought about justice. (Anyone not expect that from the moment Jack calmly surrendered?) I like that it starts to deal with the Chinese situation.

 o
RE: '24' Day Five continues

I figured that the Chinese would end the show and probably Logan gave him away in advance. Perhaps the next day will have Jack emerge as a Manchurian Candidate type character.

Some happy moments: a tender scene between Bill and Karen, Chloe and her ex and the photos from Edgar.(It seems like ages since we lost Edgar). Even Audrey and Jack relaxed for a for a minute or two.
We know in our hearts that Pierce will get in touch somehow with Martha - especially after that good-bye scene. Mike turned out to be a good guy at the end. Jack finally mentioned Michelle and Tony.

Some loose ends: what happened to what's his name Miles? who ruined the audio tape? Who are the guys on the phone with the Pres. (they come back to run another day) Wayne Palmer seemed to vanish from the story.
It must have been a short ride to the docks after the Chinese captured Jack.
I'm glad it's over for a while.

BTW I think the actor who played Walt Cummings is starring in the series they previewed tonight "Vanished" It looks like a good one and a little weird.

 o
RE: '24' Day Five continues

I was totally satisfied! It was a great finale. I love how they ended it. I love how the Chinese were barely mentioned the whole day and in the last 3 minutes they come back to tie the story up.

Ya know, this is really like today's James Bond-type spy stories.... instead of KGB and cold-war, it's a post-9/11 world, and the espionage and action is jacked up. Even his name - Jack Bauer - JB! Now with the Chinese it's like the cliffhanger to the next "movie". I love it!

 o
RE: '24' Day Five continues

I have been mulling over the ending in my mind. Early on I was glad that Jack shot Henderson-obviously it was Jack vs Henderson and if there had been bullets in the gun he would have shot Jack.
But after that I thought the plot deteriorated. It was obvious that when Jack kidnapped the President-how realistic was that!-that Logan wouldn't confess, so when they showed him placing Logan's effects on the table I figured there would be some kind of secret recording going on-and Jack gave up far too easily.

The ending left everything open for speculation, so next year we can expect 'the chinese factor'......and why they want him, why they think he is so valuable. If it was only revenge they would have killed him & dumped him in the ocean - and how does he get out of this one LOL!

Pat

RE: '24' Day Five continues

I noticed right away that the man who told Jack he had a call from Kim was an Oriental, that should have alerted him. Some have said that the Chinese will hold Kim hostage or force Jack to get them out of some kind of trouble with the promise of being released.
The recording devise Jack planted got by me. The warehouse must have been close to the docks for him to hve been taken so fast to that ship. At least we have Monday nights back for a while!!

 o
RE: '24' Day Five continues

I knew right away as soon as the Asian guy said his daughter was on the phone that something was up. Everyone at my house (we had a viewing party) was like, Oh yeah, right, his daughter just conveniently calls at this moment when everything is tidied up. We thought it was the writers being trite. But when he went inside it all clicked together and I was not surprised when they grabbed him.

Gotta wait till January! Yuck!
