Really angry at ABC

Commander in Chief won't be on TV next year. And it hasn't been on in weeks. I hope they plan to air the remaining episodes. And I thought it was being hailed as a hit when they first put it on? Don't do to Commander in Chief what you did to Vengeance Unlimited. When you get a good show, don't pre-empt it for months just when it's developing a fan base!

I think they cancelled the whole show.

I see where they are going to air the three remaining episodes this summer. Maybe it will come back in the fall if they do that.

We will be able to see the last 3 episodes but that will be it. According to an article I read ABC will not be bringing it back due to low ratings. I get really ticked when they do stunts like this. I loved Joan of Arcadia and what happened? BOOM! Off the air with nary a word for the reason. Seems like a good show gets the boot and the crappy ones run forever!

I love that show too, and was frustrated when many weeks passed with no episodes. Then it came on again and now I heard it was cancelled. I don't believe it had low ratings. Politics, if you ask me. And secsteve, I felt the same way about the cancelling of Joan of Arcadia, another favorite I would look forward to. I suspect it was the religious theme or something else we don't know about that took it off the air, nothing to do with ratings.

I suspect the networks base their decisions on shows on very specific demographic ratings. Probably CIC didn't appeal to the group of people 21 to 35 years old, who allegedly spend the most money. I happen to be out of that group by a long shot, and I haven't watched American Idol since Clay lost. Perhaps I'll be able to buy the full season of CIC on a DVD sometime soon.

Jannie - I read a great article in a recent Entertainment Weekly that explained the whole phenomenon of what happened to this show. Basically, for some reason, ABC replaced the guy who created it and wrote it - Rod Lurie - with Steven Bochco, who swooped in and said he wanted to "change a few things." He suddenly changed the direction of several plotlines and characters. This took time and they took some time off, and when they returned to air they had lost some viewers. After coming in and botching it up (sorry, pun intended) he decided, "You know what? I don't want to do this anymore." And he bolted. ABC then had to get new writer on board and revamp the mess he made. This took time and so they took a hiatus. By the time they came back on the air with NEW writing, the ratings had slipped big time. I hear they had some episodes in the can that are never even going to get to air at all.

Not a popular opinion, I know, but I say: Good Riddance. I couldn't stand the show from the opening episode. I half expected Donald Sutherland to twirl his black moustache and cackle in a Snidley Whiplash voice, while tying Geena Davis to a train track. Puh-lease!

I myself never watched it. Never had any interest. I found the article about how it crashed and burned fascinating, tho!

Well, the acting was pretty good. Gena Davis is so good, handling political crises, we got to see old faves Samantha Eggar and Polly Bergen, and, yeah, Donald Sutherland was a bit too evil to believe. But it shows what can happen if a woman gets to the top post. I really liked her poor husband the first man , offered a job as baseball commissioner. Now, who'll it be in 2008- Hil or Condy?

The final episode of CIC will be shown this Wednesday at ten pm on ABC. Unfortunately,I will not be home but I'll have DH set up the VCR.

I watched a couple of episodes but never really got into it. I thought Geena Davis was stiff as a board.

I thought the series showed promise, after watching the first 2 episodes, but it quickly looked redundant, with the same basic short-attention-span plot each week. I lost interest.
