If you were casting...

| So the Contemporary Equivalents thread got me thinking...are there any actors that remind you of each other? Either physically, or perhaps there is a certain intangible something they seem to share? Do you ever see two people and think, "Someone cast those two in a movie together, please!"
Like in Le Divorce, I totally bought Naomi Watts and Kate Hudson as sisters. Or Willem Dafoe and James Franco as father and son in Spiderman, now THAT was good casting.
So if you were casting a dream movie, who would you pick?
Here are a few I've thought of:
Diane Lane and Julia Stiles as mother and daughter
Mischa Barton and Julie Christie as, well, at this point Julie may have to play grandma altho she still looks fabulous, but someone cast these two as relatives, please
Ditto for Linday Lohan and Ann-Margaret
Naomi Watts and Nicole Kidman as sisters
Rachel Ticotin and Jennifer Lopez as mother and daughter
George Clooney and that American Idol guy as long-lost brothers (LOL)
Jeremy Sisto and Mark Ruffalo as brothers
And my personal fave, Matthew McConaghey and Josh Holloway (Sawyer on Lost) as smarmy, con-artist brothers...couldn't you just see that?

Great pairings Moongirl.... I've often thought about Tobey McGuire and Jake Gylenhall, and possibly Elijah Wood added , casted as brothers! Paul Newman's retiring, but maybe one last casting with Josh Lucas. (Wish they could come up with last good Redford/Newman movie)
RE: If you were casting...

Newman's said for years now that he and Redford are planning one more and I'm willing to bet that's 'the next movie' he recently said 'would be my last'. After all he wouldn't go out on a dud! That said, I see McConaghey much more as the contemporary Newman.
RE: If you were casting...

I see McConaghey as a buffoon and about as far from Newman as Tom Cruise from Sean Connery. I can never tell the difference between Rufus Sewell and Joaquim Phoenix. They could be twins.
RE: If you were casting...

I'd also like to see Timothy Olyphant and Gary Oldman together in something. There is some kind of inherent quality about these two guys that is so similar, perhaps it's each one's ability to morph into a whole other person.
RE: If you were casting...

How about Goldie Hawn and Kate Hudson as mother and daughter? er, oh, wait.... they already played that!
RE: If you were casting...

Scarlet Johannson as daughter and Liv Ullman as mother. (There is a strong physical ressemblance).
RE: If you were casting...

I'll ignore the fact that John Cassavetes is no more, and cast him and Martin Landau as brothers. I frequently confuse these two with one another, and a quick IMDb check revealed that they are only 18 months or so apart in age.

I think Shirley McClaine could play Rene Zellweger's mother ( I also put it the comtemporary equiv. thread)
RE: If you were casting...

Oh wow, that's perfect Paula! The squinty eyes are uncanny!
RE: If you were casting...

Christian Slater and Jack Nicholson. I'm half-convinced Slater is Nicholson's illegitimate son. Stumpy
RE: If you were casting...
| | |
Jay Leno and Fred Savage as father and son.
RE: If you were casting...

Helen Hunt and Leelee Sobieski . Oh, and you don't know her ,but my 16 year old Vicki looks like a junior Julia Roberts.

Kyle MacLachlan and k. d. lang as brother and sister
