RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

Okay, got it! But I can't remember the title. Hilary Swank, isn't it? Boys Don't Cry?

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

BINGO!

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

I haven't actually seen 'Boys Don't Cry'. Should I put it on my rental list?

Next round!

1. Boat

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

Castaway?

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

Mutiny on the Bounty

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

Fitzcarraldo

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

Ooh Chris, n'est-ce pas Fitzcarraldo is a gem?!

Yes anyanka, you should see Swank's Oscar winning performance in Boys Don't Cry. It's difficult to watch at times (such suffering, so many 'tortured souls', as I have mentioned before), but worth watching because we get a glimpse of just what it's like... not being able to be yourself. I highly recommend it (it's based on a true story).

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

Nothing yet.

In the UK, August is known as the 'Silly Season'.

1. Boat

JAWS ?

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

I have to confess that I chose this movie just so that I could give you clue no 3... the character is actually introduced very pretentiously by that title.

1. Boat
2. Mysterious deaths
3. Ichtyologist
4. Underwater fights

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

???

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

Creture from the Black Lagoon

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

OHMYGOD! I've never seen this movie before but our family has jokingly used that line a gazillion times over the years.

Who's there?
Tis I, the creature from the Black Lagoon!!
Good on ya, minnie!

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

1. dead bodies

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

Hang on, hang on, you've got to wait for ME to say it was the Creature from the Black Lagoon!

(It was the Creature from the Black Lagoon)

Also, it was kwoods who gave the correct answer first, albeit in pictorial form.

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

May I please cede to Minnie?

Sean of The Dead?

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

Ooh, you are nice, Woody :-)

Clairabelle, if you haven't seen Creature of the B/L, go and rent it. It's such a wonderful compilation of cliches, and the girl gets to scream and faint a lot. The guys even tell her to stay behind, because 'it's too dangerous for a woman', and instead of punching their lights out, she demurely demurs and stays behind so that the creature can kidnap her. Good old movie for the Silly Season!

Minnie: I say... 'Sixth Sense'.

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

All wrong but I misunderstood and give place to kwoods. In my excitement I thought the photo was a "clue"
I'll save the rest of my clues for a later game. Go K

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

My-bad, I also thought the photo was a clue! :0

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

After you madam..... ;o)

I won't do the picture thing again because it was admittedly confusing.... just couldn't resist displaying his scaly visage!

(I prefer guessing anyway.... I find I'm disappointed and often at a loss for something interesting to offer as a puzzle when I guess correctly.)

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

ok I'll finish
1. dead bodies
2. cowboy boots

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

nope

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

Silverado?

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

1. dead bodies
2. cowboy boots
3. English countryside

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

Kwoods, I really liked your answer-by-photo, as it's such a great monster. As they say in the second-hand car business: must be seen. Also, that is one particularly good pose. Really sums up the spirit of the film.

My answer for today: American Werewolf in London. Although I don't remember any cowboy boots in that.

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

Let Sleeping Corpses Lie?

Don't recall boots here either but for some inexplicable reason I really liked this horribly gorey zombie flick (Dyno, you might too).

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

1. dead bodies
2. cowboy boots
3. English countryside
4. Escape on horseback

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

You're killing me! I know I know this!

Feels like something I've seen late at night. My brain is mixing together a bunch of films that don't come close to fitting the clues (The Incident, Rosemary's Baby, Badlands, In Cold Blood). It must be something disquieting/disturbing.

100% Stumped

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

28 Days ........

 o
argh! re: clue game #89: you know how to whistle?

I meant "28 Days Later"! The zombie flick and NOT the Sandra Bullock rehab story!

(Geez ...... I knew there was something wrong ....)

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

1. dead bodies
2. cowboy boots
3. English countryside
4. Escape on horseback
5. leading lady is blind

this should do it

 o
RE: in the movie

1. dead bodies
2. cowboy boots
3. English countryside
4. Escape on horseback
5. leading lady is blind (should have said plays a blind gal)

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

A transgendered Jane Eyre?

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

6, leading lady is blind (should have said plays a blind gal) also saved from culprit drowning her in the bathtub.

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

Uncle! Uncle! Like kwoods, I'm stumped.

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

Egad Minnie-I think you have stumped us-again!

Pat

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

No!No! I've got it! It was Mia Farrow and they never showed the maniac's face, just his boots! It wasn't great but definitely creepy.

No idea of the title. Leaving now for hiking up in Keene Valley Adirondack high peaks 'til Monday anyway so someone else guess it/go. I'm gonna look it up on IMDB otherwise it will bug me all weekend.

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

You got it K

It was "See no Evil" but was released under a different name in England I believe.
Actually if you look close you will see who it was!!!

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

Yikes! Leaving at 5.00am soooooo...........

Lightning round! From the same year.

1. New Sherrif In Town
2. Dietrich-esque Saloon Singer

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

Blazing Saddles!

 o
I know how to whistle...

Bit easy, but there you go. My turn again!

1. dead body

 o

Sunset Boulevard?

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

I am enjoying see everyone playing this game and kind of getting the gist of how it's played, BUT, can someone tell me how to loose the annoying video commercial that keeps popping up? Something about "there's an "M" in everyone"

thanks
O

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

Welcome, ohmster. I think it's a security thang. Check your computer's spyware capabilities regarding popups.

Here are the rules of Da Game:
1. no more than 5 clues per round.
2. no words from the title or characters names in clue.
3. one guess per clue.
4. the winner can go again or lets someone else go.
5. you must have fun ("Resistance is futile")

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

So, anyanka is up unless anyanka "passes" to someone eles. I will be waiting. Rule number 5 is my favorite!

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

Welcome O!

Anyanka is in England so we have to wait and allow for time differences.

Pat

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

Mulholland Drive?

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

Clairabelle, you witch! Got it on the very first guess - Shallow Grave.

My apologies for the time difference (also, I've been out all day).

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

Wonderful little gem of a movie.

I'll give my turn to... newbie OMSTER (alrighty, let's see juss whatcha made of! :D

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

Thanks Clairabelle! Take this, lol!

1) Indians should not be provoked.
2) Early On, my only love if Sacrificed, my honor is dead
3) Floating down...
4) Preaching my punitive measures to the primates
5) My glorious self made means is madness, my ends, oblivion

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

Whoa, nelly furtado or should I say Romeo! One clue at a time, it gives us a chance to throw in more than one guess between clues.

Alrighty, Group: Vamanos! :D

My attempt: Gorillas in the Mist? (ref primates)

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

oops! I looked at the first post and goofed. My bad. Next time, I promise, just one post at a time. :-)

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

Do I get five guesses? ;o)

Apocalypse Now?

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: Goof Alert!

another doh!

clue #2 reads, "Early On, my only love if Sacrificed, my honor is dead"

should be: 2) Early on, my only love is sacrificed, my honor is dead

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

The Mission?

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

Great guesses, but no cigars or candy just yet.

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

Mosquito Coast!

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

I do like a bit of cryptic, but... oh, hell, wild-guess-time:

Little Big Man?

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

"Little Big Man?"

Good guess! I was gonna say A Man Called Horse (same year I think) though some things don't seem to fit.

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

A Man Called Horse (such a good movie!) Just had to say that, now, it's back to the races. Please let me know when and how it's appropriate to give more clues or whatever.

 o
suggestion

Normally, you give one clue at a time and everyone's allowed one guess until the next clue comes up. As you've already given all five clues, and most of us have had a guess, perhaps you could clarify one clue at a time? Just a little bit... and then we can each guess again.

Or not.

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

Last of the Mohicans?

Pat

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: Clue Expander

The 5 clues that I gave occur in chronological sequence along with the movie's start to finish.

Here is the first clue expander: 1) These 16th century Indians lived in the deep South West and not "out west". One of our esteemed members here has been extremely close! I did a little sweating there...cause WN2 was smoking hot! (with respect to WN2's choice of titles that is)

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

Fitzcarraldo ?

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

Is that your final answer?

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

Good Grief! It's not that hard. Hope no one is bummed that I was too vague or general or Regis Filburn in the twilight zone inspired or...

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

stumped here...

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

Apocalypto?

Haven't actually seen it...

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

Black Robe?

Gotta love them Jesuits! ;-)

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

OK, let's just say that someone here was so hot (with respect to being as close to the bullseye as is possible)that they may have even been confusing two movies in their mind. The movie is arguably the very finest this eccentric team ever made. Whereas the movie was SOOOOO good it literally transcends time with respect to it's ability to render the viewer absolutely oblivious to the actual time frame it was filmed within, it was shot in 1972 (I believe) It's a true psychological masterpiece.

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

Can you hear the big Clang as the penny's dropped? Clairabelle said 'Fitzcarraldo', and I was totally baffled when it wasn't the right answer... because I had confused it with

Aguirre the Wrath of God

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

You got it!! (you're so cool!) :-)))

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

I figured there was some transposing of titles there going on. I would bet Clairabelle may have confused the same. Anyway, over to you as I strap a pillow to my butt knowing it's about to get KICKED! ;-)

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

Ahhh, another Kinski masterpiece; he's such an unusual actor, imho, like, say, John Malkovich. Bordering on folly. Bravo!

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

Kinski was an absolute mad man in the truest sense of the phrase. Does anyone know if ever there were another such off screen maniac as Kinski? I am shocked that the man lived as long as he did. Even more surprised that people around him lived as long as they did! He was beyond the most brilliant actors however.I was VERY impressed with Kinski's portrayal of Nosferatu.

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

Would this be Klaus Kinski, father of actress Natasia Kinski?

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

YEP

 o
RE: Clue Game #89: You know how to whistle?

My main experience of Kinski was from a series of German B-movies based on Edgar Wallace novels. Not such brilliant acting there, bur some very ripe ham! I think he needed Herzog to bring out his best performances.

Okay... next round...

1. abusive husband
