I heart huckabees

I watch movies on video, not at the theatre, so I'm always a year or seventeen behind any discussion. But I'm wondering if any of you saw this and what you thought of it.
Just so you're warned, I liked it so much, I watched it three times in a row. I've never done that before.
I thought it was one of the funniest movies I've ever seen?
Any comments.

Sorry, what is the name of the movie again?

RE: I heart huckabees

The film is entitled "I Heart Huckabees", Minnie. It stars Jude Law, Dustin Hoffmann, Lily Tomlin, Naomi Watts, Mark Wahlberg and Jason Schwartzman.

Well Nina, I was really looking forward to that one since I first heard about it being made and for the first half it was wonderful. I seem to have the opposite opinion of those who didn't like this one. Most said it was too complex and confusing. I felt the problem was that it started out being about fascinating questions which cannot (easily or ever?) be answered but then Russell oversimplified everything to arrive at what was for me a pat and unsatisfying resolution.

I do really want to see the special edition however because I read that a lot of what was shot was cut in an attempt to clarify things for the audience. Exactly what I don't want in a great metaphysical/philosophical discussion...

thanks I did a google because I couldn't understand the title but I see it "I Love Huckabees" (the word Heart is the heart symbol or icon) the Title makes more sense now.

Minnie, I did the same thing -- read the title as "I Love Huckabees." The heart symbol was read as "love" back when I was in grade school (and a lot farther back than that) and I hadn't realized it changed.

Hi Minnie. Sorry about the title, but I wasn't sure how else to phrase it. I thought of if (still do) as "I love Huckabees" but when I did a search, found it under the title "I heart..."
Spamlet, I didn't think the director oversimplified so much as he did a Dickens. Dickens' plot lines were so huge that after about 976 pages, he'd find himself up against a deadline and would rush everything to a resolution.
So, I suppose if you're trying to portray existentialism, some condensation (sounds like bad weather, doesn't it?) is necessary. I was more amazed at the fact that he tried to do it, and acutally succeeded in making it funny.
It's like making a comedy about the telephone book. I'm still awed at the execution. Brilliant acting all round, too. But I adored Dustin Hoffman and Lily Tomlin in it. Particularily admired Tomlin's gimlet-like eyes and protruding bottom. It's been so long since I've seen her on screen, I'd forgotten how physical her comedy is.

I guess I'm just not in touch with existentialist theories. I thought the movie was just stupid for the most part. Nothing even made me chuckle or grin.

I had sooooo looked forward to seeing this movie after all the hype it got. I loved the beginning - I loved all the actors and the quirky characters and I did appreciate very much what the director/writer was trying to say. But
by the middle it started getting slow and it began losing me. I cared enough to finish it but I was a tad disappointed.

Totally baffled by it! And it left me wondering if I'm just dumb or not a very philosophical person. That said, I did enjoy it somewhat. I laughed out loud a few times and I loved the performances, especially Lily Tomlin. Jason Schwartzman was funny too and I didn't realise that he was Talia Shire's real-life son. I thought that Dustin Hoffman and Isabelle Hubbert seemed to be as baffled about it as I was.

I'm wondering if I see it a second time, it will make more sense???
