Thoughts on IE & Lynch In General

What a movie!! I'll be twisted till a week from Tuesday from this armchair outing. I have to believe Lynch is one of those artistic movie people that movie appreciators either love or flat out can't take. In my case I just can't wait wait for the next film.
The viewer finds themselves so ridiculously & completely submerged within the ambiguous & tortured subconsciouses landscape of Lynch's signature film work. This film reminded me of an exceptionally symbolistic & noir (to the power of 10 I might add)Slaughterhouse Five. That whole uncontrollable * oozing story line time slippage as the characters are helplessly chained through wormhole like connections that transcend the fabric of space & time. All the while compelling the viewer to grasp and clutch at the rich symbolic analogous parallelisms as only MR. Lynch can.
I don't know (and need everyones help to know more!)too many movie makers that can express themselves and their unique artistic vision as effectively as David Lynch.
GREAT soundtrack too! |

I think the OP is talking about this David Lynch movie. I haven't seen it.
Here is a link that might be useful: David Lynch's Inland Empire

I watched it for the first time on Thursday. I found it difficult to concentrate as if the dreamstate was hijacking my mind. This will need a second viewing. Dern was incredible! Really feel that you have to be a fan of this type of genra.

I apologize, the film is Inland Empire. I fully agree that Lynch's efforts are not for everyone.

Lynch as director is uniquely inimitable, IMHO. I loved "Elephant Man" and was fascinated by "Blue Velvet." I am still trying to figure out "Mulholland Drive", which was unforgettable.

I'll watch out for 'Inland Empire' - Lynch is one of my nearly-favourite directors. Too demanding to make it into the top favourites, but I always find his movies worth watching. However, I have a problem with 'Mulholland Drive' (as previously mentioned). Literally, have a problem. It is cursed. I lost my first rental copy (probably accidentally posted it to a literary agent); and the second one played for an hour and then went all pixellated and hiccupy. That was a couple of months ago, and MD has been sitting at the top of my rental list ever since, alternating between 'long wait' and 'short wait', but never ever 'available now'... I may have to buy a copy soon, but no doubt that will also be jinxed.

My thoughts exactly, woodnymph. Elephan Man is one of my all-time favorites.
