Seasonal TV Ads

Has anyone seen any funny or truly terrible TV ads this holiday season? So far, my local stations have only screened catalogue-type ones. I could do with a laugh.

I like the Capital One Vikings. The same guys who did the Halloween ad.
And there is a great one that looks like the real thing. Cingular phones I think with Scrooge and Marley. Marley visits Scrooge and tells him about the extra free phones.

I have to add that the David Spade Capital One ads are disgusting.

Minnie I agree! I really dislike the David Spade ads-and just love the Vikings-being originally from England I laugh everytime I see one of those!...and the one where they are chimney sweeps....

I don't care for the ads that take "We Wish You A Merry Christmas" and change the word to Holiday....I think it is the Big "O"? I am not happy about the "political correctness" about NOT say Merry Christmas!
I love Christmas....so Merry Christmas Everyone!

Our family sport is 'spot the perfume ad' - they multiply this at time of year, are always totally meaningless and usually feature women in flowing dresses. They are also easy to spot by the absence of language!

I miss the old adds from the sixties and seventies like the Norelco add with Santa riding the electric shaver like a sleigh. It was really stupid, but it was as much a part of my childhood holiday as tinsel and twinkling lights.
Also the Andre 'Cold Duck' commercials with the 'Carol of the Bells' as a background.
I know there were lots more, but those are the only two that come to mind. The ravages of age.LOL

That Norelco add was always on during the Peanuts Christmas Special, and the Rudolf the RNR (the one with Burl Ives narrating) sigh, yes.... age!

I haven't seen any of the Coca-cola polar bears ads...are they still running them? :-D

Paula I haven't seen them on TV but did see a newer version at the movies last week! Before the movies start they seem to fill the screen with Coca-cola commercials!

I think I saw a Penguin/Polar Bear Coke ad recently.

RE: Seasonal TV Ads

How about the Thanksgiving one, where troops are coming home for the holidays, and the people in the airport applaud them wildly. LOVE that one!!!!!!

Or, speaking of Coke - The old one w/kids/teens standing in a tree-shape w/candles, singing "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing."

dweck - once they started playing that Coke song you couldn't get it out of your head and everyone in the office would be singing it too!!

RE: Seasonal TV Ads

I love the Chanel #5 commercial with Nicole Kidman.
Let's not forget the Hallmark commercials! They're always special.

Just saw the Cottenelle ad for the second time. The one where the puppy is waiting for his brothers and cousins to arrive for Christmas with their people. Love those puppies.

I just saw a FoxNews promo with penguins, snow and a candy cane. Very nice art work: pencil drawing.

I would give anything to have a DVD of all the Coca-cola Polar Bear ads that have run. I love them. I saw one that I had never seen before back in mid-November but only saw it once. Can't even remember what it was now.

I was interested to see that both Radio Shack and Walmart had ads paired for before and after Christmas. Remember the Radio Shack ad with a series of people sitting in the big red chair telling us what they wanted for Christmas (Radio Shack gear, of course)? Now they are running the same set with everyone asking for world peace. Walmart had Queen Latifah and her mother buying gift cards at Walmart before Christmas. After Christmas she runs into a giftee at Walmart and asks if the friend was able to get all she wanted, with a sharp glance Beauty Shop on a nearby rack.

RE: Seasonal TV Ads

see, you all think they are Vikings too. They claim they are Huns, but we all know they are meant to look like Vikings. It is a slur on Scandinavians everywhere. I think I have been irreperably damaged and I want restitution. I am pretty sure that I am suffering from post traumatic stress syndrome.

 o
RE: Seasonal TV Ads

Devorah Maybe it's cause we really didn't "listen" to the ad haha. I think you might be entitled to a little something for your damage.

 o
RE: Seasonal TV Ads

I haven't seen the Clydesdale (Budweiser) horses plowing through the snow this season. Hope they haven't been replaced by Hummers or other such tacky things.

 o
RE: Seasonal TV Ads

Devorah - as an Ex-Brit I have been suitably insulted by those ads LOL! Actually I have laughed really hard at the ads and think they are really well done!...........Pat

RE: Seasonal TV Ads

Hooray! Finally we have a funny seasonal ad on Australian TV. A cricket match and a fully-dressed girl streaks across the pitch chased by a nude policeman with his rude bits "fuzzed" out. Has someone sent me a download of an ad? I have a download notice attached to this posting which I am concerned about.
