Who mentioned this band? I tried to search for it on the Glyphs search, but I am rarely successful finding old links on this forum.
Anyhoo, I found the compilation "Pearls from the Oyster" on Amazon. Is this one a good representation of this band?
Thanx

If you are talking about a thread from a couple of years back, then it was me. I am a big fan of the Oysterband. Pearls is a good introduction. If you can find it try and get their CDs "Holy Bandits" and "the Shouting End of Life". They are incredible. The CDs after those became much less interesting.

" Oysterband (or the Oyster Band, as it used to be) are one of the few outfits still burning with the fire of punk, but managing to combine it with the ideals and knowledge of English folk music - a balancing act they've made into a fine art over the years."

Here is a link that might be useful: On The Edge

Thanks, RD, I think it was you. But not from a couple of years ago, or I don't think I would have read it! (I wasn't here yet.) I have to admit, my hubby has been doing the legwork for me, finding albums and such, because he works at a music store. The other Oysterband records seem to be out of print.

'bird, my eyes glaze over as soon as I click onto a link and an mp3 starts to download. I am still on a dial-up, and will go certifiably nuts waiting an hour to see what you sent. Thank you, though. You're a good bird.

Around a year or so ago I mentioned some wonderful CD's Columbia House added to their 99 cent bin (too bad they closed their CD club). One of them was the 'Holy Bandits' album. Man this is such a great combination of lyrics, musicianship and musical instruments.
