Dreamgirls question
| | |
Posted by clairabelle (My Page) on Sun, Jan 13, 08 at 15:35
Last night watched the movie Dreamgirls with my daughter and she asked if Eddy Murphy's character (Jimmy Early) was based on an actual Motown artist. At first, I thought of Marvin Gaye, but remembered how he died and figured it must have been someone else.
Any guesses? |

| My guess would be James Brown. |

| There is a Wikipedia article about that musical, and it suggests that the characters were not based on just one real person, but combined characteristics of several, stating: "James 'Thunder' Early is depicted as a representative of soul singers such as James Brown, Little Richard, Marvin Gaye, and Jackie Wilson." -- James Brown is first on the list, going along with abr4xii's guess. |
