New to me. This musician is all over the map (globe, actually). Some of it I find pretty intriguing. If you click on the myspace link below and don't like the first thing you hear, keep going, because you may hit something you like.

Category? Art music/experimental, but fairly accessible.

From the webpage linked to below:

Composer, arranger, performer and enigmatic mystical traveller, Eyvind Kang was born in Corvallis, Oregon. He began learning violin at age of 6, studying classical violin with Dr. Howard Leighton Brown and Dr. Eugene Kowalski. He was a student of legendary jazz violinist Michael White at Cornish College of the Arts and he studied with Dr. N. Rajam in India.

He has performed internationally in his own ensembles, he has recorded and/or performed with Sun City Girls, Bill Frisell, Wayne Horvitz, Secret Chiefs, John Zorn, Mike Patton, Laurie Anderson, Marc Ribot, Beck, Laura Veirs, Blonde Redhead, Animal Collective, Sunn O))) and many others. He has also worked extensively for film, theater and dance.

Eyvind Kang is one of the most original and exciting composer and violinists currently performing in the underground, a fact cemented all the more by his accomplished solo recordings.
