I have only heard this as an instrumental, and it may have come out 10 or 20 or more years ago, but I am fond of the scratchy old version of it that I have on tape and would love to be able to buy it new on i-Tunes or elsewhere--if I only knew the title!
I will use dots to represent extra beats beyond the one for the spelled-out note, and caps for accents:
sol-SOL do-DO.. re-RE mi-MI.. do-SOL...
sol-LA-sol-sol-fa-fa-mi-fa-la-sol...
sol-SOL-fa-FA-mi-MI-re-fa-mi-DO...
do-MI-re-RE-do-DO-la-LA-mi-RE..
Not the whole thing, but I hope someone will get the idea from this imperfect rendering and recognize it.
I think it ends with
sol-SOL-fa-FA-mi-MI-re-RE-do-DO...
sol-SOL-fa-FA-mi-MI-re-RE-do-DO...
I tried humming it in my head and all I could think of is the song Tonight from West Side Story. I can hear Natalie Wood sing it and I can hear the instrumental in other parts of the movie. Probably wrong but hope it helps. How about the theme from Quo Vadis?
Thanks, Livia, but I'm afraid it isn't Tonight. I've been trying to find the theme from Quo Vadis on iTunes, but failed, so today I'll google it. Minnie: That's a cute little piano thing, even if it makes all the notes the same length!
