Hollah!
I've been listening to CBC radio's Radio Two Drive with Rich Terfry these days and there's this one chap, Royal Wood, who has a new album out and whose single On Top of Your Love (I think that's the title) is that kind of song you just get out of your head (well, mine, at least).

I dunno if it's the voice or the arrangements, but he reminds me of Gerry Rafferty. I'd be interested in your thoughts.

p.s. Puleeeez don't judge the song by the terrible video! I'd pictured the video as a guy driving a pick-up truck on the way to see his girl... something like that.

Here is a link that might be useful: Royal Wood -On Top of Your Love

OOPS, should have put this one in the New Music thread, my bad.

Bumpin...

I was thinking of rude interpretations of his name, but I guess that's redundant after watching the video. It's okay, not exactly my thing. I feel like I shouldn't like it for some reason, but I think it's okay. I find him a bit offputting in the video--maybe it's a guy thing (competition?). Lol, I just re-read your first post and see you said please don't judge by the video. I forgot that when I came back and clicked on that link just now. I actually think the way the video is shot is pretty decent, though some things about it I'm more ambivalent about. I still can't get over the name, actually.

I personally really did not like the video (gave me a friggin' headache, not to mention the been-there-done-that scenario) but seriously, the styling of the song has just stuck with me, for some reason. And I stand by my comparison to G. Rafferty... ;)
