I love the releases from Hip-O Select, but their 5 Motown collections are a tad pricy at $600. Especially when I already have so much of the material on CD. But, they do have gems. One in particular is the 2 CD set "All This And World War II". This is, in my opinion, the best collection of Beatles tunes out there. Henry Gross, Peter Gabriel, Bee Gees, Rod Stewart, Ambrosia, Elton John, Bryan Ferry, Roy Wood, Keith Moon, Jeff Lynne, Leo Sayer, etc. make some great Beatle tunes come alive again. Also of re-issue interest are two albums on one CD by Stomu Ymashta (Go and Go Live) with Steve Winwood and Michael Shrieve. We can only hope they get around to "Go Too". In a similar vein, I am glad to see they resurrected two of Genya Ravan's albums, but when oh when will some label put out "Genya Ravan With Baby" (Flying is worth the price of the album alone).
Well manny, then hopefully you have the soundtrack to "I Am Sam". No Rod Stewart or Elton John, but a fine collection of tunes and artists. "I'm Only Sleeping" is a nice find by the Vines (you probably know them from the tune 'Ride' used in the iPod commercial). Plenty of tasty tunes, and a lot cheaper than 'All This & World War II'.
