There was a time when I would have picked the Tops, but
I have to go with the Temps. The variety in the songs and
the singers, David & Jimmy Ruffin and Eddie Kendricks. I
once found Levi Stubbs to be incredibly soulful, now I just
find him to be gravel-voiced and over the top. There are
Four Tops songs that I still enjoy very much, after forty
years, but on the whole I'll go with the Temptations.

The way I felt about the Four Tops is also the way I felt
about Patti LaBelle and Janis Joplin. But I can no longer
listen to either one.

Quick85 pretty much summed it up for me.I like some four tops songs,but its no comparison.The temptations great harmonies,and even some psycedelic music like cloud 9 win hands down.Levi stubbs is a shouting type of a singer..as where david ruffin,eddie kendricks and company were spectcular and smooth vocalists.

The Tops are liking driving a Ford,a fine car,but can't compare to the BMW Temptations.
