Interesting information. I remember the lunar landing and Space Oddity but didn't realize they happened at the same time. Saw Bowie perform that in concert and he was really good. Saw him on the street once and though he's not as tall as I had thought he looked nice in person. When he noticed that we recognized him he smiled and winked.

Today is also the birthday of Bonnie Pointer (Pointer Sisters) and Suzanne Vega, for what it's worth.

If we are still talking about July 11th, we cannot Alan Freed. He had been playing classical music for years. On July 11, 1951 he became Moondog on WJW in Cleveland and started playing R&B tunes. The rest is history.

Today - July 12th - marks 43 years the Stones have been around. Yup, they first performed publicly at London's Marquee Club on July 12th, 1962.

Talking about the Stones, rambling, didn't you slyly mention their 'Rock & Roll Circus' the other day by invoking the memory of Dirty Mac? I can't find it.
