Double Nickels on the Dime is the one that gets praised the most. I'm not really into them myself, though I liked a couple songs way back when (esp. one entitled "World War Three"). Hard-core punk fused with funk and jazz influences. Earnest, crazy, and probably tighter musically than you might expect from punk.

Really good powerful stuff. Lots of their songs were tight little rants that were often over before the second hand could make another pass around the clock, but there was so much packed into that small amount of time. I suppose that is why they called themselves the Minutemen!
As they aged, they got a little more pop. But never truly lost their edge.
Long live D.Boone!!!

I really like the Minutemen and have to agree that "Double Nickels" is great. But you have to like Punk, (even if it is high-class Punk). Mike Watt, the bassist went on to form fIREHOSE, (not Firehouse!), which is quite a bit less frantic.
