On this day in 1965, The Beatles spent four hours with Elvis Presley at his home in Bel-Air. It was the one and only time they ever met, and the King of Rock & Roll's first words were "Can I get you Beatles a drink?"
On this day in 1965, Bob Dylan released the album "Highway 61 Revisited." Folk purists were once again horrified to hear him using electric guitars, but the album's first single, "Like A Rolling Stone," became one of Dylan's best-loved songs.
On this day in 1966, the title song of The Beatles' film "Yellow Submarine" entered the charts.
On this day in 1967, The Beatles' manager, Brian Epstein, died at the age of 33 of a medication overdose.

On this day in 1990, guitar legend Stevie Ray Vaughan died at the age of 35 in a helicopter crash in dense fog following a gig with Buddy Guy and Eric Clapton in Wisconsin. All five people aboard the helicopter, including members of Eric Clapton's entourage, were killed.

What a sad day when Stevie left us. I had the opportunity to meet and speak with him briefly while he toured the PNW. I can't recall the exact year ('83 or '84). "Life by the Drop" still is almost too much to hear sometimes.

Great list just a guy,but i had to chuckle at rics post. How could you forget that?Speaking of the death of stevie ray vaughn..we sure have lost alot of great musicians over the years due to planes going down. Its an occupational hazard, due to the constant touring schedules of musicians i guess.Frankly im surprised we have never lost a professional sports team this way.I remember when the entire evansvillle ill.college basketball team perished in a plane crash.

There have been a few, but not professinals, I don't think - the US World Figure Skating team (with future Olympians on board), a sports team from Marshall University in West Virginia, and a large group of students from Syracuse went down in TWA 800 over Lockerbie, Scotland. BUt I don't think they were a sports team.
