Lollapalooza

Went this year and took the kids-both in college and they have turned us on to some great music. Here's a smattering of who we saw:
Gaga-disappointed somewhat. Apparently she was there three years ago and got panned and was complaining about it. Sounded just like she does on the radio.

Arcade Fire-awesome (played A LOT from their new cd The Suburbs which I hadn't had a chance to get to know yet.

Rogue Wave
Mumford and Sons
Yeasayer
The national
Deer tick
Stars
Kissaway trail
Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros
Cut copy
Phoenix
Gogol Bordello
Blitzen Trapper
The dodos
XX
Temper Trap

But by far the best show I saw was Frightened Rabbit. They are a Scottish band with three cds out. I have the last two "Midnight Organ Fight" and "Winter of Mixed drinks", both really excellent. The show was the best I've seen in awhile. Going to see them at House of Blues in November.

When I look at all the shows I saw I can't believe it. Seems like a lot. It was a great time and I will def do it again, especially if they have a lineup like that. I didn't get to see some bands I wanted to see due to overlap.

Lucky you! I'm glad you had such a nice time.

A friend in my age range gives me new band info from his nephew, and it's good to hear your kids do that with you.

I checked out Frightened Rabbit and liked their sound. Looks like they will be in my neighborhood in mid October, so I may get to see them.

Oh you should go see them! Let me know how you like the show.

I can tell I am at a new phase in my life where I am not so busy with LIFE and I can start listening to music again. The reason my kids love music is that we were always into the new music when they were young, and they always loved listening to anything. So now we've come full circle and they introduce me to good stuff.
