Need help w/Happy Birthday song

| My 12 year old son is DJ'ing his first party in 2 weeks. Neighbourhood kids, swimming pool etc. He's looking for a cd of covers of the song Happy Birthday or at least any cd that has a good version of HB sung on it. It seems like someone somewhere might have made a compilation of singers singing HB or if not does anyone know of an Elvis LP or another singer who sang HB on one of their LP's. Any help appreciated. This is not a test....thanks |

| I leaned a good trick from a nice "regular" in here. Go to the search engine "Dogpile" and click on the audio tab. Type in that you are looking for the Happy Birthday song, and see what all comes up. I actually was asked to find the song recently for a co-workers b-day. I found a funny version by the happy worms or something like that. They sing about how at least you are not dead or something along those lines. It was kinda funny. |

| The beatles gave us birthday.Its not the old happy birthday standard,but its a great birthday tune that is simple and it rocks!Its on their legendary white album or cd.Its great for parties. |

I think I heard something about the original writer of the classic "Happy Birthday" song (or their family) sued for rights to it. And that is why no one ever sings it on sit-coms or in restautrants anymore. I wonder if this is true, and if you can even get a collection of people performing it.
At any rate, my favorite birthday song is by They Might be Giants, and it is called "Older". Real sing-along stuff. |

| If the kid's name is John or Johnny you could always use "It's Johnny's Birthday" from George Harrison's All Things Must Pass... Mike |

| Thanks to each of you for your input. My son's going to use The Beatles "Birthday" or at least some of it. I googled HB and sad to say Aruu is correct. Song is protected until 2030 by copyright. You can sing it at private parties but everyone else pays Time Warner. |

About 10-12 years ago, a slew of albums by The Monkees were re-issued with bonues tracks. The album "Head" has the happy birthday song on it.
