What is it about McCartney?

Along with alot of early Paul, I keep buying the special
releases: "Band On The Run: 25th Anniversary Edition",
"Wingspan: Hits and History", "Back In The U.S.", and when
I find it, I'll pick up "Wings Over America". How many
versions of Beatles/McCartney songs do I need? What's
this power he has over me? Do I have to go to New Orleans
and get some spell removed? |

| Well, he does need all the money you can spend on him right now. Sounds like his divorce is going to be a touch on the expensive side... |

| Paul McCartartney is a multi billionaire I don't think it will hurt him in the least. I saw him in concert this year and he was amazing! |

| I remember a song paul recorded and wrote for his red rose speedway lp called big barn bed.The song had goofy lyrics and made no sense, yet it was strangely catchy.Hes a master at writing melodies that stick in ones mind. |

| Manny, I agree - McCartney's lyrics are frequently goofy or absurd. Somehow he is so darned likeable that I don't mind. My favourite thing about McC is that he sent his children to state schools, even though he could have afforded the finest private education. He still comes across as quite grounded for someone who's been spoilt by fame, fortune and megabucks for over 40 years. |

| Great point about sir paul anyanka,in that despite immense fame, wealth, and afew years of drug abuse hes come out fairly unscathed. He never got a swelled head,or fallen victim to the excesses that killed alot of other entertainers. He comes across as a regular guy.His beatle work was spectacular, but his solo songs are just okay..except for afew great songs like maybe im amazed. After the beatles broke up,he was a fulltime family man,and only parttime musician..and it showed. In his bachelor days of the 60s his work was stunning. |

| Again, I can only agree... I haven't actually bought any of McC's solo albums since 'Venus and Mars', although I considered 'Chaos and Creation in the Backyard'. Never got around to actually getting it though. Have you listened to it? |

I love his quirky stuff like "Smile Away", "Man We Was Lonely" and "Magneto and Titanium Man". His music simply makes me feel good. And to me "Band On The Run" will always be a classic album. |
