Cheap Trick

I had to attend an electronics convention last weekend. It was in Indianapolis. One of our vendors booked Cheap Trick for us to see for free.

I am a mild fan of Cheap Trick, so of course I took the free ticket. CT were wonderful. They played all the songs they are famous for and did a great job of it.

Near the end the gave away dozens of free t-shirts. Alas, I was too far back in the crowd to get one.

Bobky,

Funny thing that you pick that song to link to.

There are some stories floating around about "The Flame".

The band hated the song but did record it only because the record company insisted, thinking it would be a big hit.

The story also goes that they refuse to play it live.

Well, they did play it last weekend and did a great job of it.
Robin hit all the high notes and there are a lot of them in there, too.

RE: Cheap Trick

Speaking of Cheap Trick, a fellow on the other board challenged me create a narrative by stringing along Cheap Trick song titles. It went something like this:

'Hello There' all you 'ELO Kiddies'. 'All I Really Want' to say is it is 'So Good To See You'. One of my past 'Girlfriends' was a Cheap Trick 'Fan Club' member. 'I Can't Understand It'. But I 'Couldn't Let Her Go' because she would 'Ride The Pony' 'Through The Night'. She was the 'World's Greatest Lover'. 'I Want You To Want Me' she says. 'You're All I Wanna Do' I reply. This 'Cover Girl' tells me 'Tonight It's You', 'You Want It'. I 'Surrender'. 'Take Me To The Top'. 'Ooh La La' my friend, 'She's Tight'. We did the old 'One On One'. 'The House Is Rockin'. It was real 'Hot Love'. The 'Clock Strikes Ten'. She wants to go again. 'Come On, Come On' she says, give me 'Heaven Tonight'. She 'Won't Take No For An Answer'. It's like a 'Stiff Competition' but I 'Can't Stop This Game'. 'Didn't Know I Had It', but these 'Southern Girls' 'Know The Way Of The World'. Then it is 'Saturday At Midnight'. She says 'Next Position Please'. 'This Time Around', I tell her 'I Can't Take It'. It is time for the 'Dream Police' babe, 'Don't Make Our Love A Crime'. She tells me 'Everything Works If You Let It'. I said let's wait until morning. As you probably guessed, I 'Woke Up With A Monster'. I'm 'All Wound Up'. Want to put out 'The Flame' I ask? You want to 'Come On Christmas' she says? I say 'Love Me For A Minute'. She says OK. Ahh, these 'Younger Girls'.
'Auf Wiedersehen'.

CT was my fave when I was in HS. I saw them live in Milwaukee a few years ago and they haven't missed a beat. In case you are interested, their 2003 recording, Special One, is excellent. It was the first "new" CT album I bought since Dream Police and I was not disappointed.
